Saint-Denis is the city of built Creole heritage. Maison Carrère, the prefecture, verandas, fretwork valances and the townhouses of rue de Paris form a precise architectural vocabulary that can be illustrated without a tourist detour. Le Barachois and its cannons close the city onto the ocean and remain the most recognisable viewpoint in the island's capital. This selection is aimed in particular at local authorities, cultural organisations and agencies working on Réunion identity.
